This is a truly excellent story which I highly recommend (disclaimer: Kress has long since been one of my two favourite authors for social consequences of genetic engineering sf; the other is Brian Stableford, who is also excellent at that).

And there's a really good tie-in deal for all of Kress' Phoenix Pick reprints (2 extra novellas, 2 novels, and 3 mini story collections for $14.99), which I'd recommend snapping up if you've any interest in social consequences of genetic engineering stuff. I already own most of it in e-editions from previous PPP promos (and the remaining ones in hardcover).

But I'm splurging again to get the two "Robert Cavanaugh" technothriller novels in e-book (and because apparently the final chapter got left out of the original hardcover printing of one of the novels), even if they're going to be a little pricey without what would otherwise be extra amortization from the stuff I already paid for during the last few rounds.
