Here's what I get:

Kindle 3.4.1 (~~otaVersion~~)

[root@kindle /etc]# cat version.txt
System Software Version: 001-S401_luigi-254047
Tue Nov 25 18:48:40 UTC 2014
[root@kindle /etc]#

The odd thing is that Settings shows three zeroes: ...70001. But it's close enough.
