I do not budget for books because I could never stick to it. If a book comes out that I really want I will buy it regardless of the cost.
Just the other day I bought Bernard Cornwell's Waterloo: The History of Four Days, Three Armies, and Three Battles for full price, $17.99. I am about a third of the way through the book and I think it was worth it.
