We Sink or Swim Together: An eShort love story by Gill Paul is a standalone f/m historical disaster romance short set during the 1915 sinking of the Lusitania due to German U-boat (Wikipedia), centred around two transcontinental strangers who meet and fall in love during that fateful night, free courtesy of publisher HarperCollins' Avon imprint.

Currently free @ B&N UK, Amazon UK, iTunes UK, & Kobo (available to the UK, and was decidedly unfree when I spot-checked various regional EU/Oceania stores which sometimes also get the UK freebies). Likely also Google Play UK as well.

Although the full blurb and included chapter excerpt tells you not to miss one of the author's upcoming full-length books, it's actually not a tie-in to anything obvious, as said upcoming book is set during a completely different era (and doesn't seem to have ancestor characters or the like).

However, it is currently available for a pre-order discount if you're interested, as well as a markdown on one of the author's other historical titles: No Place for a Lady, an 1850s Crimean War romance for £0.99, and The Affair, a 1960s historical personal drama (not primarily romantic) set behind the scenes of the filming of the Elizabeth Taylor version of Cleopatra, for £1.49.

Unlikely to cross the pond, as while this edition exists in North America, it's priced at $6.99 in both US and Canada. For a 48 page file, part of which is a sample chapter excerpt.
