I own the GloHD and I don't find the page turns to be slow. It takes about .5-1.5 seconds for a page turn on an Epub file. I think it really depends on the contents of the book you are reading. Another thing to consider is the file format. For some reason, I find that .mobi files take considerably longer to open (5-12 seconds) than epub files (2-5 seconds). I can't really speak for pdf files yet. The ones I've tried work fine, except for default zoom levels being off here and there.
