Every major manufacturer has a rep that calls on every store from time to time, usually weekly but it varies. They'll often offer the sales staff what are called "spiffs". I'm not sure of the spelling but that describes how it's pronounced. These are cash rewards paid directly to the salesman by the rep for each sale of whatever item they want to push that week.

I worked for a short time in a store a few decades ago and the spiffs then were typically between $10 and $20 per sale of that item. Occasionally as much as $35. I suspect it's a lot more these days. For a salesman who isn't making much money that's a lot of extra cash. By the way, it's not recorded so it's essentially tax free, or at least it was back then.

So any salesman with half a brain will recommend the product with the best spiff. If you want an unbiased answer about what device to buy don't ask a salesman. Do your own research and ask questions about the stuff you don't understand in forums like this.
