I have an original Paperwhite, a Voyage, and I recently got a Paperwhite 2. I'm giving my Paperwhite original to a friend. I started my Kindle adventure with a DX, which was a big mistake. I'd never seen a Kindle and in Oaxaca I didn't think I would. My eyesight isn't great so I paid a lot and got a DX. I didn't like it. It was too big to carry around conveniently. The DX was 3g-only and I didn't like that either. The cell tower was down far more often than my WiFi.
As luck would have it, a week after I got my DX I saw a tourist with an ereader. I didn't run and tackle her but I did find out it was a Kindle and she let me look at it. I could read it, even with my eyes.
So, I ordered a Kindle Keyboard. I enjoyed it. I skipped the Touch and later got the Kindle Basic. I liked that Kindle, too.
Then came the Paperwhite. That was awesome. I got rid of my headlamps that I had used for reading in dim restaurants and coffee shops. "Let there be light." I really enjoyed the Kindle.
I looked at reviews and videos comparing the Paperwhite with the Paperwhite 2 and waited.
Then the Voyage came out. We still can't order a Voyage delivered in Mexico but I ordered one when they opened the pre-order period and had it sent to my sister. She brought it to me in February.
I liked the Voyage a lot. I did not like the Origami case. The Voyage was brighter, the text was crisp. I didn't care for the haptic "buttons". I liked the Voyage but for me it wasn't worth the cost.
Then I decided to give my Paperwhite to a friend and I ordered a Paperwhite 2. I think it's great. In brightness, it's brighter than the Paperwhite but less bright than the Voyage. Other than that, it is fantastic and is, for me, the best buy of the Kindle lineup.
I understand there are people who want a new Kindle Keyboard. I understand that. I'd love to have a brand new 1956 Chevrolet. But, it isn't going to happen, is it?
