They do make a difference..... unfortunately maybe not to the products but to other people who can 'see' the irregularities and are happy people like you are around! My eyes are nowhere near as sensitive as yours to any screen issues but I am constantly surprised by the number of people who are very happy with how the screen looks on their device.
It is unfortunate that there are still quite big variations in the screens on individual models. There's clearly a cost v quality balance, which makes the Kindle Voyage quite a disappointment whereas the Paperwhite is pretty good (but only at the second attempt). And so far there is only one ereader that is truly premium and worth spending the extra cash on, and that's the Aura H2O. There are still some variations in its screen, but far less so than any other.
