The 9.7" screens are based on older tech, with a resolution of 1200x825. The newer 8" screens have a resolution of 1600x1200 (i.e. twice as many pixels). I have an old PocketBook 902 with at 9.7" screen, and an Inkpad with the 8" screen, and the latter is just better for reading PDF documents. If you're just going to read EPUB documents, then the 9.7" screen may be better for you, but don't be fooled that the bigger screen size means better resolution.
