2nd DX arrived today, it also had inoperative 3G wireless. Yes, I attempted all the usual fixes, including the "311" trick where you type "311" when in Settings and it shows the signals, which I cycled through and tested one by one.
How hard is it for them to test the 3G-only DX? Power on, look at bars.
I learned a lesson, to take seriously the seller feedback rating (86% currently for Amazon Warehouse), rather than imagine that a trusted brand name obviates real world ratings.
Never again will I deal with Amazon Warehouse. Glad the return shipping is on them.
