There seem to be two kinds of people in the world: Those who think ads are a potential source of valuable marketplace information, and those who think ads are untrustworthy graffiti that muck-up whatever medium they invade in order to maximize the advertiser's profit by shouting exaggerated, misleading, sales pitches and using psychological manipulation and other P.T. Barnum baloney to get people to part with their money by creating desire for things for which they had felt no prior need.
For the former, accepting "Kindle Special Offers" makes sense. For the latter, $20 to dismiss the ads may be a great deal, but I'm waiting for the price to drop to $19.98.
