When the ads first came out my Kindles had to come without ads because I live in Mexico. I did add the advertisements for a few days, thought they were a nuisance, and got rid of them.
For me, no ads is worth the $20. Actually, since not having ads allows me to simply open my cover and start reading I have spent approximately $.0001 per swipe avoided.
