The third series, Lost Stars, is set in the same Universe but, deals with characters from the Syndicate side in Lost Fleet and how they are attempting to rebuild their worlds and stay free and independent of the old Syndicate. The Lost Stars series is my favorite of the three, but all are good.
I generally agree with that review, but would also point out that "Beyond" and "Lost" run in parallel and overlap at a few points... so it works best if you read them that way. I should probably check Goodreads and make sure the master series list puts them in the correct order.
