Right. That's Kindle DX lingo, e.g., in the menu, it's "Turn off wireless".
I turned off my house wi-fi, and placed my Kindle 3 3G right next to the DX, and got 4 bars on the KK and nothing on the DX, including no "3G" icon (though I don't know if they have that on the DX). Went outside, nothing, couldn't register, couldn't connect to the Store or my cloud. There is a significant number of recent Amazon reviews complaining about 3G wireless failing on the DX. (Unless they're all about the continued cycling of my unit through the warehouse
