The problem, as I see it, isn't that wasted page turn, it's that if the text was just there waiting for me when I pick up the device I could start reading as I turn it on and not have to wait for it to finish. Actually maybe "problem" is the wrong word. It's that I'd prefer to pick it up and just start reading. The wasted page is a very tiny negative. Being able to simply look and start reading before I do anything is a nice little positive.
I always used to keep a bookmark in a paperback so I could instantly go to that page. If the bookmark got lost it wasn't a problem. I could always find my place easily enough. It was just a nice feeling not to have to. Getting to my page now with my Kindle is easier than it was when I lost a bookmark in my paperback but not a lot easier. Not having to do that would be pretty nice.
I'm not trying to make a big thing out of this. Obviously it's a pretty minor issue. But it's a minor issue that I think hasn't been thought through very well in ereaders so far.
