I am blessed to live in Hawaii where "business casual" is synonymous with "aloha attire" which means shoes with toes, a Hawaiian shirt, and long trousers. And absolutely no ties. That's the uniform for anything from the office to the opera, unless of course your a lawyer.
Occasionally we host business visitors from the mainland; you can always tell who they are by the ties they wear, but it usually only takes a day or two for them to lose the ties.
