This might be an OS or build issue:

CTRL+V works fine in Book View mode with the official 64bit 0.8.6 build on my Windows 8 machine and the unofficial 32bit/64bit Linux builds.
CTRL+V doesn't work in Book View mode with DiapDealer's unofficial 0.8.6 Windows XP build, however, you can still paste text via the context and Edit menus.

@rbruce1314: Did you install the official build or one of DiapDealer's unofficial builds?
