Being cautiously optimistic about the outcome of the Family Thing.

Almost two years ago there was a fire next door and our house filled with smoke. After almost two months of cleaning we opened the store again and it looked like life was slowly returning to normal again. Then the Family Thing started (will go into detail when it really is resolved). Since then I've been through very dark periods, but it looks like things are looking up and my uncle is realizing he's in the wrong, or at least realizing that he can't do much else than go our way.

Mind you, fifteen months ago it also looked like he was going to give in. Which turned out to be a trick. But now there are a couple of other factors that make us optimistic in the outcome. But you never know with him.

In four weeks time he and my father are meeting again to iron out the details. That week it's two years ago that the fire broke out. Hopefully everybody can agree enough to resolve it. After that I don't want to see my uncle ever again. It feels like my life has been on hold for two years. It'll be strange when/if everything is resolved. But until then I'm only hoping and not counting on it.
