Sorry if it seems like I'm beating a dead horse, bernie. I found the disk management tool in Windows 8. So (I haven't done it yet) I plug the Sony in and run the "repair" on the Sony entry in the disk management tool. Then I format the whole Sony (or just part) to fat16? And do I do that in the disk management tool as well? (I know how to do the factory re-set.) Thanks.
