The navigation controls on the Kindle interface are pretty inconsistent. The page turn buttons don't work in all situations. Sometimes it's swipe left/right to page or scroll a list. Other times it's swipe up/down. This type of experimentation to 'discover' the controls would be bearable on a regular instant-feedback touch screen but on an e-ink screen, it makes it seem sluggish or unresponsive.

I've been asking for a zero-margin full-screen mode and who knows if I will ever see it. It would be helpful for books that use images for each page (many children's ebooks). Most PDFs already have their own margins so adding to that seems silly. And for a PDF that already has page numbers, also having the kindle page number below is redundant and reduces the size of the page.

Really, I just want consistency throughout the entire reading experience.
  • Comics have fullscreen zero-margin option. Why not for other books?
  • Ebooks have a swipe-up option to quickly flip through a book. Why not the same for PDFs?
  • Ebooks and comics use the first page for the cover. Why not the same for PDFs? I suggested they just check for words on the first page of the PDF and if not, assume it's a cover.
  • Page turn buttons should work everywhere and also in landscape.
And organizing and navigating to books on the Kindle is so bad. I read many books that are in a series and so I group them into Collections. If I set my view to just Collections, it's a pain to pick up the last book I was reading since I have to dig into a collection to find it. But if I set my view to show 'latest', my most recent book is front and center but all my other books have exploded out from their collections.

For the front page interface, they should devote one row for recent books and for the rest of the rows, a view of your library based on whatever view you like.

Yes, I have sent all these suggestions to Amazon.
