Reviving an old thread...
Having been on 3.1.1 with my Kobo Aura HD for a while now, but curious about a firmware upgrade, I can't discern as to how I initially modified the reader such that it has blocked all updates since then, while allowing for syncs for and Pocket and such.

Can anyone confirm any of the methods here working for, say, versions 3.11 and beyond?
