If there's demand, I'm sure that someone will develop a substitute and that it won't serve as a hindrance to Windows 10's adoption in the long run.
Microsoft's going to discover that there are many other barriers that will limit uptake. Some of those barriers are even out of Microsoft's hands, such as the segment of the market that isn't even interested in upgrading their computer out of a pure lack of interest.
