I got an email a few days ago from Kobo welcoming me "to my Kobo Glo HD." I didn't register it but probably when I synced to get the firmware update is when they got my info. One of the items covered in the email is about the concierge system where it says:

"Your Kobo Glo HD includes a free exclusive concierge service for tips on getting started, personalized eBook recommendations, plus exciting offers just for you*.
Call: 1-884-342-4436

Legal
*Exclusive to Kobo Glo HD. Available 9AM-9PM local time, 7 days a week. Service supported in Canada, United States, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, Portugal and Brazil only."

I called the number for the heck of it and seemed like it was going to connect to a live person, not just a bunch of automated recordings, since it said calls may be monitored. But since I really had nothing to ask, I hung up before that point.

884 seems to be a free area code, there is no charge involved.
