I am sure they could but at an increased price. Bluetooth could add lots of functionality such as a keyboard, wireless transfer (syncing) to a computer, wireless headphones, connection to a cellphone for data services. But the ideas here were for a basically free (or almost free) addon without a $50 to $100 increase. The two ideas are not mutually exclusive by the way.
