The "port" is a number associated with a content server instance, which is a (virtual) library. You can have as many content server instances on a given computer as you wish (as said by eschwartz). Each instance can serve a physical library, perhaps restricted by a virtual library.

As for using a NAS: usually the content server can access libraries on a NAS because it is read-only, but that isn't guaranteed.
