My Voyage is my first Kindle to have this feature; it's neat-o! I got so used to opening the cover and having the Kindle turn on that I forgot the Voyage actually *had* a power switch. Don't be that silly!
I asked online here, how to turn it off (or some such) when I needed to get its attention more forcefully. Duhhhhh.

And I've even got a cover with a hole in the back so that I can *see* the stupid power switch!
