If there was no registration, then the OP wouldn't have any books in ADE, nor would the old calibre with the plugin work.
Same goes with whatever other book sources were tried. Kindle for PC needs to be registered before you can download books with it.

Actually, it doesn't make a hoot of a difference. What does matter is configuring the plugin and checking that a key exists, and trying to manually add a new one.
The plugin will try to derive a new key under certain conditions automatically. Including, IIRC, if there is no key available. But that happens at plugin activation, not at plugin installation.


@OP, if the old version works, the new version should too. They share the same configuration and the same keys.
