Another major annoyance I've noticed is the automatic refresh of the first page of a new chapter. The automatic refresh makes the page less dark. My experience is that this is a book related issue (or at least it manifests in a few some books but not most). I haven't delved into arspr's suggestion to see if that's the reason (only tested a number of different true kepubs).
