I had a plain dark navy blue skin on 2 of my silver Sony 350 readers for several years, and they are extremely durable. I read out in the sun a lot and there was no fading, no pulling up at the corners at all. You'll be able to reposition it when you first put it on, but after that, they stay firmly in place and adhere to the reader without any problems. If and when you do decide to remove the skin, there is zero residue left over, the reader is perfectly clean afterwards. The skins also made the front metal more comfortable to hold on the Sony when in the hot sun (not a problem on the Kobo readers at all). I would think they'd be pretty waterproof, seems like a very good quality supple plastic material.
