Also how long the nib lasts, is it a big ongoing cost? I live in Australia and shipping of these nibs or even a service will cost me lot in shipping. Is this devices is rugged in nature for daily use indoors and outdoors. Can I trust it to go for a long time without any need of repair?

When I had one it felt very fragile and the "case" (actually just a sleeve) did not help in this respect. I would never, e.g., put it in a backpack--in fact at its price I would be quite anxious about taking it out of the house at all. The warranty is only 1 year and given that the device is kind of "new ground," I personally wouldn't expect it to last 10 years (I'm not certain the battery is even user-replaceable). As far as how long it will actually last, that's sort of a "wait and see" thing.

I suggest waiting for the competitors to release their counterparts and then make a decision. As I see it, the DPT-S1 is a first of its kind, niche device targeting a market that's willing to spend an absurd amount of money for something without much functionality. In the near future, I think you will see better options with respect to both price and functionality (i.e. supporting Android and its marketplace rather than trying to reinvent the wheel).
