Hi, try a complete factory reset of the device (of the kind that you would do it if you lost your encryption key). I think it is a software issue, because the Stylus does not use IR for sure and I think the touchscreen is capacitive, too. Also, they most likely run on completely different controllers so it's unlikely that both exhibited the exact same "deadzones" as you describe it. Good luck.
