You could always try a method that I came across by (unhappy) accident on an older Samsung Galaxy Note1. If your device allows you to move the CC app to the external SD card then CC's widgets (and any other moved app) will no longer appear in the Widget drawer.
I second this. But to be honest, aside from the widgets being disabled, there's really no advantage to move CC to the SD card because the database is still saved on the Internal Memory. At least that's how it appears on my phone. All in all, my CC is about 81MB (75.75MB is the database size). When I move it to the SD card it only moves about 2MB.
