Calbre is Crashing

Hi, I'm having a problem with Calibre constantly crashing. It seems to be unable to read my kindle content. It does recognise that the kindle is attached though:

calibre.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

The error message is below:

calibre, version 2.26.0
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

WPDError: Failed to get children from device: hr=2147944029 facility=7 error_code=1629 description: Data supplied is of wrong type.

If someone could help me with this I would be really appreciate it. Thank you.
