Yep. In one of the recent software updates for the iLiad they changed it so that you can only connect to a PC when you are on the content lister screen. Otherwise you could do things like modify/delete a document from your PC while the iLiad has it open on the screen, which caused all sorts of problems/corruption, etc. It should be in the manual and/or release notes, but nobody ever reads those.

The USB connection on top of the unit is for plugging in USB thumb/flash drives - then the iLiad can read documents that are on the mounted thumb drive. The USB connection on the "travel hub" is for connecting it up to a computer to make the iLiad appear to be a mounted hard drive to the computer.
Exactly. The USB on top of the iLiad is for attaching memory. The USB on the travel hub is for connecting to a PC. They're different kinds of USB connectors.
