Well, another week has come and gone. Just two weeks left to go until Sync gets here. Yipee! In the meantime, if you are desperate for some free audiobooks like I am here is another little-known source for your listening pleasure.
Last year as I counted down to Sync one thing I mentioned was real published audiobooks posted as (or as a part of) podcasts. Podcasts made a bit of buzz comeback last year thanks to the
Serial podcast; it was more of a documentary / radio program so it doesn't count for what I'm talking about. I highlighted Baen last year, who offers one of their audiobooks published by Audible serialized weekly as a part of their podcast (
here). Right now they are serializing Larry Correia's "Hard Magic."
Another audiobook-as-podcast I'm coming to like is by Mur Lafferty. Starting in 2013 she released her book "The Shambling Guide to New York City" chapter by chapter as a podcast. While it is read by the author I think it is a cut above most in that category, and it has been released by Hachette Audio. That one has come and gone but the sequel "Ghost Train to New Orleans" was recently serialized and is still available, through June, on
her website. I'm listening to it now and I would recommend it.
Well, that's it for this week. I'll do this one more time next week to tide you over until we begin another fun summer of audiobook freebies.
Enjoy!
