Apart from slideloading the book as an EPUB (which avoids a lot of other kepub bugs too), there are two solutions:

(For sideloaded kepubs only): Make sure you are using the latest version of the KoboTouchExtended driver to load the kepubs, and add the following to the book's stylesheet: div#book-columns { padding: 0.2em !important; } (The easiest way is to use the kobo_extra.css feature of the driver to modify the stylesheet automatically when the book is sent to the device.)

2. (For sideloaded and synced kepubs): Patch the firmware and enable the `Fix kepub side bearing font cut-off bug` patch.
Or you can do what I do, and just make sure my margin slider is set just a notch above the minimum margins.
