That is what I have done in the past ("done" because I have no more to do ).

I have used Nero's Soundtrax (I don't know if it is still bundled in the latest paid Nero collections but seems to be now offered free on the Nero website) and there are a number of free applications around among which is Audacity which I have also used. Both allow one to edit as well which is useful if there are unwanted pauses, etc.

Takes a while but works in the background, plus one obviously needs a cassette tape player and not so many of those around these days.
