This years hugo are ruined anyway. Who ever wins wont know if he won because his work was truly the best that year, or because people voted against sad and rabid puppies.

I agree. George R. R. Martin also made a similar point on his page. The Hugo is a big award in SF and being nominated is supposed to be a great honor, especially if you are a new author who wrote something good. But those who win this year will have the taste of ashes in their mouths as they won't know if they won because they deserved it, or because of all this mess. I wish Asimov, Clarke and some of their other contemporaries were still with us and could weigh in on this. I'm sure they would have had some strong opinions to express.
