Thanks. I created the two configuration files for Yosemite, but didn't know which bash file to change (nor where it is). I also didn't know which directory to put the files in - I get confused about which root is being described - the directory appears to be two places. I changed it in my personal /Library/LaunchDaemons/ - nobody else will be running Calibre on my computer anyway. I then opened Calibre and made a couple of changes without getting the error windows (and without having to force kill Calibre to get out). So I guess it worked. I just cut and pasted, my unix knowledge is limited.
