I looked at it yesterday and in the blurb it does say something about being originally published by Signet if I recall correctly. So I think it's a backlist probably brought back from the author--with quite possibly one of the worst covers I've ever seen. The guy is dead (coffee cup spilled, but his leg still posed as though just reclining? Who falls dead with their leg that way? And the lady in the shot calmly drinking her espresso? Never mind the lack of...oh never mind.)
