There is no "need" for full Android, but it is what the OP asked for. I agree with you about the quality of the browser, but I wasn't aware that there was a calculator, crossword app, and soduko app built into (or available for) the Kindle PW or Kobo HD.

Also, there is one thing that I use my Onyx for that I can't (easily) do with either my Kindle or my Kobo, and that is email.
