I am always amazed by what 21st century educators think desirable to teach young children. Prepositions of place!

When I was in elementary school, most teachers were graduates of what were called Normal schools, these being a two-year program for women. (Possibly they accepted men, but the only men I ever encountered in elementary school were principals and math teachers, who presumably had a bachelor's degree.) They taught rules, not concepts. As a result, I can do most math problems in my head and I can punctuate and spell without reference to a guidebook. I shall always be grateful to those comparatively uneducated young women.
