Looooooooong since torn down, indeed. Ye gods, speaking of Kew Gardens...there used to be a fabulous Chinese restaurant there, in the 50's-60's...I practically cut my teeth on their spareribs. Can't think of the name now.
Grew up boating on the sound, the ocean and the Hudson from both sides of the GW; the Malba marina is long since gone, too, I think; and I don't know about the club in Whitestone. Haven't been in...decades, I think.
I also miss all the fabulous markets in Corona. Used to buy the BEST Italian sausage in the world there. Of course...that was nigh on 40 years ago.
I particularly miss it the food available; Phoenix is a lot of things, but an urban food mecca, it's not.
