More of a setting of the stage with a promise of things to come. Like in Treasure Island for example when Jim Hawkins starts to talk of the "captain" who takes up residence at his families inn of The Admiral Benbow. You just know something is going to happen that isn't ordinary. Or like in the movie of The Invisible Man when a stranger who is wrapped up in bandages makes his appearance. You ask yourself who is he? Why is he wrapped up in those bandages? etc. We want to know more of what is up and read, or watch further.
