She would, I concur, have been absolutely freaking perfect for Ms. Fisher 10 years ago, but she's just a teeny, weeny bit--I hate to say it, I do--too old for the part.

Nonetheless, as you say, lovely fun. Speaking of shows from Down Under, what did you think of the Mr. and Mrs. Murder thing?

And if anyone wants, I can get very rant-y about the casting of Miss Fisher, to keep this thread vexed.

Now see, I didn't feel that way about Phryne at all. I thought Essie Davis was perfect. She didn't look or feel long in the tooth at all. Of course, that may be because I'm looking BACK at either of those ages by a LOT.

Ashleigh Cummings as Dot is, as you say, perfect. But mostly I just love the series and the books, which I would never have discovered if our local PBS equivalent broadcaster hadn't bought them long before they were available in the US.

Have not watched the Mr. and Mrs. Murder. Will have to give it a try. Did watch Rosemary & Thyme when it was on PBS. Not sure I'm up for a re-watch. Not nearly as thrilled with Murdoch Mysteries as you. Way too many anachronisms for me. I have tried it a couple of times, but it just didn't work somehow.
