As a newbie-helping introductory treat, Packt Publishing are offering four titles giving basic how-to instructions for various web technologies, including the popular standards HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as some sort of data platform called Hadoop.
These are fairly short pieces at only a few dozen pages long, but they'll give you a fairly decent background in the core concepts and useful stuff-to-do if you're not already familiar with, illustrated with examples.
They're all DRM-free PDFs, although you will either have to sign up an account with them to download, or fill out your name and valid email and a password and a captcha (which, actually, from the looks of it, looks like equivalent to signing up a new account anyway, so you might as well do that first and avoid having to re-fill the captcha each time).
And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.
Because while these are on the lighter side of educational, they do contain useful info and we've got a number of DIY e-book creators and tidier-uppers and aspiring authors who want more control over their input and output, and hopefully these will help out some of the programming newbies among us.
Enjoy!
