Ah, well,
The World According to Garp was one of my favourite books, but I admit I wasn't so fond of
A Son of the Circus. Have you read any other books by John Irving? Some folk say
Cider House Rules is his best, but I didn't much like that either. I enjoyed
A Prayer for Owen Meany and, to be honest, it was the first book of his that I've wanted to re-read (though I haven't as yet - too many other books to get through

).
What turned you off with
Garp? (note, I'm
not going to disagree with you, or get defensive about it, I promise. I ask purely out of curiosity because, like with other "worst"s in this thread, it interests me most when people don't like books otherwise popular, or books that were my favourites).
