I agree they should last more than 3 years. I continue to use my Cybook gen 3 on a daily basis and have done so since early 2008. Apart from replacing battery (twice) it is fine.
Occasionally I get 'itchy feet' and think about buying a new reader, but frankly until my Cybook 'dies' I see no point.
