NY Times with E-ink Device

Hey Guys,

I'm in the market for an e-reader/e-ink device, although the biggest bump in the road is that the NY Times subscription isn't non-tablet friendly. I've heard the best work around is using Calibre for a work around.

I wanted to get an idea of some things before I make my purchase, which hopefully you guys can help me out with.

1. Are certain kobo/kindle models more preferable for Calibre?
2. How long/annoying is the process to upload the daily articles?
3. Is Calibre Mac friendly?
4. Should I be concerned about anything long term, such as NY Times removing Calibre support/access?

Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dino
