Hmm, life's never simple is it...
To cut the last few hours short, debricking failed on my PC, failed on a VM but I managed to get it working on an old laptop successfully.
So, Kubrick worked and so did the Kindle OK afterwards. I chose the options to jailbreak and clear out local settings but did not reformat the drive.
Amazon very kindly automatically downloaded software updates to the firmware. There's a post on the Kubrick thread that says it was OK to update the firmware so I applied these. My firmware version is back up to 5.3.7.2.
Collections Manager fails to run with the 'not authorised' message so I tried to apply the MKK but this failed with 'Update Error 007'. I cannot find any reference to this error in the forum. The same error occurred when trying the Dummy Hack update.
Kubrick says it comes with a jailbroken image, so I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do next to get Collections Manager working. I assume that the Kindle is jailbroken - is there a way of telling?
